What was said

Claim by the DA about the ActionSA-led coalition: DA mayoral candidate Cilliers Brink says Tshwane lost 85,000 jobs. He says that is more than 6% of employed people. He says this was between April 2025 and April 2026. He says it was under the ANC/EFF/ActionSA coalition.

Why it is Verified

Stats SA's survey shows the number of employed people in Tshwane fell from 1,336,000 to 1,251,000 (6.4%). This was between April-June 2025 and April-June 2026. Stats SA's own tables show this fall is bigger than the survey's margin of error (how far off a survey number could be). So it is a real fall, not survey noise. The survey does not say what caused the fall.
