What does the evidence show?

Why it is Verified

The Auditor-General told Parliament what the problems were. They were the City's records of other money owed to it (sundry debtors), and spending booked in the wrong year. The Auditor-General raised no doubt that Johannesburg can keep running and paying its bills. Johannesburg formally disputed findings in the Auditor-General's audit. This means it did not agree with them. The Auditor-General's report sums up Johannesburg in one line: "Instability and failing accountability affected citizens’ lived experiences". Here, accountability means leaders and officials answering for what they do.
