You're voting in the local election on 4 November.

This election chooses your council. The councillors then choose the mayor. You get 2 or 3 ballots. The quiz has two parts: your ward and your council's parties.

Water: Clean water that comes out of the tap.
Electricity and power cuts: Power at home, and fewer power cuts.
Rubbish: Bins emptied on time, and clean streets.
Toilets and sewage: Flush toilets, and sewage that doesn't spill.
Roads: Fixing potholes and building roads.

Housing and land

Building houses: New homes for people who need them.
Informal settlements: Services and upgrades for areas built without council approval.
Title deeds: Papers that show you own your home.

Safety and jobs

Crime: Feeling safe where you live.
Metro police: Police that a city council runs, apart from SAPS.
Local jobs: Work in your town.
Business and growth: Helping local businesses grow.

Governance and money

Corruption: Stopping theft of public money.
Audit results: What the official checks of council money found.
Wasteful spending: Money spent with nothing to show for it.
Coalitions: Whether a group of parties running a council stays together.
Budgets: How the council plans and spends its money.
