Why it is Verified

Stats SA's official unemployment rate for Tshwane was 33.9% in July-September 2024. That is about one in three. In April-June 2026 it was 34.2%, about the same as when she took office. A year earlier, in April-June 2025, it was 30.8%. Stats SA's own tables show the rise from 30.8% is bigger than the survey's margin of error (how far off a survey number could be). So it is a real rise, not survey noise.
