A Mahikeng Local Municipality news item of 24 September 2026 names Khumalo Molefe as executive mayor. An executive mayor makes many of the council's decisions. The 2025 statements say the same. Khumalo Molefe's full name is Molefe Patrick Khumalo. Khumalo Molefe was elected on the ANC district list in 2021. What the official records say

The Auditor-General gave the Ngaka Modiri Molema district council a qualified audit opinion for 2024-25. It got the same result in 2023-24.
