Voters choose the (Council The group of elected people who make decisions for a municipality. They pass its budget and choose the mayor.). The council chooses the (Mayor The leader of the municipality. Councillors choose this person, not voters. So the seats each party wins decide who can lead.).

Rodney Kritzinger of the DA is mayor of Nama Khoi in a September 2026 budget statement. He is also mayor in the 2024/25 and 2025/26 municipal reports. No source names the (Party A group of people who stand for election together, with shared plans.) that support him now. No party has a majority. Since the ANC won Ward 5 in May 2025, the 17 (Seat A place on the council, held by one councillor. A party with more votes gets more of these places.) are ANC 8, DA 5, NCM 3 and FF+ 1. A DA-NCM (Coalition Parties that agree to run a council together, usually because none has more than half the seats alone. Together they choose the mayor.) (a group of parties that run the council together) governed from 2021. In 2021, no party won more than half of the 17 seats. The ANC won 7, the DA 5 and the NCM 4.

What the sources said, by date

  1. As of 17 Sep 2026

Rodney Kritzinger was a DA (Ward councillor A person chosen by the voters of one ward to speak for that area on the council. You vote for them by name.) and mayor, the draft 2025/26 annual performance report says. Its council table for 1 July 2025 to 30 June 2026 counts ANC 8, DA 5, NCM 3 and FF+ 1, out of 17. We counted these line by line. The report says the mayoral committee is drawn from the ruling parties. It does not name them.

  2. This was true then. Newer rows above may change it.

    As of 14 Sep 2026

The (Municipality The local government for your area. It looks after local services, such as water, rubbish removal and local roads. There are 257.) monthly budget statement for August 2026 is dated 14 September 2026. It is addressed to 'Mr R Kritzinger the Mayor'.

  3. As of 30 Aug 2025

R Kritzinger was mayor and GMS Bock was speaker in the year to 30 June 2025, according to the municipality's audited financial statements. A speaker is the (Councillor A person elected to make decisions for a municipality, such as the budget and who the mayor is. Each one holds one seat.) who chairs council meetings. Audited means the accounts were checked by auditors.

  4. As of 29 May 2025

The ANC held Ward 6 in Okiep in a by-election on 28 May 2025. Before the vote, the DA and the NCM depended on the FF+ to govern.

  5. As of 15 May 2025

The ANC won Ward 5 in Springbok Bergsig from the Namakwa Civic Movement in a May 2025 by-election. A by-election is a vote to fill one empty (Ward A small area inside a municipality. Each one elects one councillor.) seat. The council is now ANC 8, DA 5, NCM 3 and FF+ 1. That is 17 seats. The FF+ decides whether the DA-NCM coalition continues.

How were the seats split?

Who holds the 17 (Seat A place on the council, held by one councillor. A party with more votes gets more of these places.) now, counted up to 24 Jun 2026. A (Party A group of people who stand for election together, with shared plans.) needs 9 seats to run the (Council The group of elected people who make decisions for a municipality. They pass its budget and choose the mayor.) on its own. No party has that many. So parties must work together to choose the (Mayor The leader of the municipality. Councillors choose this person, not voters. So the seats each party wins decide who can lead.) and pass the budget.

  • ANC8
  • DA5
  • Namakwa Civic Movement3
  • FF+1

Each dot is one seat. The dot with a ring is seat 9. That is how many seats one party needs to run the council alone. Each party shows in its own colour. One party has no colour on record, so it is grey too.

What the official records say

From the Auditor-General and the national government. Every council gets the same checks. A council that is not on a list shows no row.

The Auditor-General gave Nama Khoi an unqualified audit opinion with findings for 2024-25. It got the same result in 2023-24.

This means its accounts were right, but the Auditor-General found other problems, such as broken laws or weak reports on its work.
