Lucky Sele (ANC) is mayor of Mogale City. The national government contact directory lists him as mayor in October 2026. (a group of (Party A group of people who stand for election together, with shared plans.) that run the council together). We found no 2025-26 official or news source that names the coalition partners. Sele was still mayor in May 2026. The council's own page lists him as executive mayor (a mayor who makes many of the council's decisions). In 2021, no party won more than half of the 77 (Seat A place on the council, held by one councillor. A party with more votes gets more of these places.). The ANC has 31. Control changed twice since 2021. First, a DA minority government (a government with fewer than half of the seats) ran the council under Tyrone Gray, from 2021 to April 2023. Next, Danny Thupane (ATM) was mayor from 25 April 2023, with an ATM, ANC and EFF 'Government of Local Unity'. The count was 43 votes to 31. Then Sele was elected on 25 October 2024 after Thupane resigned.

Who holds the 77 (Seat A place on the council, held by one councillor. A party with more votes gets more of these places.) now, counted up to 24 Jun 2026. A (Party A group of people who stand for election together, with shared plans.) needs 39 seats to run the (Council The group of elected people who make decisions for a municipality. What the official records say
From the Auditor-General and the national government. Every council gets the same checks. A council that is not on a list shows no row.
The Auditor-General gave Mogale City an unqualified audit opinion with findings for 2024-25. It got the same result in 2023-24.
This means its accounts were right, but the Auditor-General found other problems, such as broken laws or weak reports on its work.
