The 2024/25 financial statements name MA Feliti as executive mayor of Maquassi Hills. An executive mayor makes many of the council's decisions. Feliti was elected as an ANC (Councillor A person elected to make decisions for a municipality, such as the budget and who the mayor is. Each one holds one seat.) in 2021. We found no source that says which (Party A group of people who stand for election together, with shared plans.) govern now. In 2021, the ANC won 13 of the 22 (Seat A place on the council, held by one councillor. A party with more votes gets more of these places.). The ANC lost its majority in a December 2024 by-election. A by-election is a vote to fill one empty (Ward A small area inside a municipality. Each one elects one councillor.) seat. The ANC now has 11 of the 22 seats. No party has more than half of them. Since September 2026, a Provincial Executive Representative oversees a financial recovery plan. The representative is an official the province appoints to act for it in the council. The plan is meant to fix the council's money problems. The plan is mandatory (required), under section 139(5)(c).
